It was written by the great yogi and scholar Patrul Orgyen Rinpoche (1808–1887). Guidance will be given on the two truths, what is to be accomplished, and how to put these instructions into meditation and daily practice. This extraordinary text is lucid and full of direct Dzogchen instructions.

DANA:

Suggested donation for a class is $25 – $30, or whatever you can afford. Traditionally in the East, and at Dharma classes, there is no course fee for teachings. Dharma is offered freely. However, by tradition, students offer dana in return for teachings. It is this unique cycle of mutual respectful dependence that has kept the Dharma thriving for almost 2600 years. Each time we receive teachings, it is an opportunity to consciously practice dana (which translates into English as “generosity”). Since the teachings are priceless, one determines the kind and amount of dana according to one’s heart. Let your donations reflect not only what you can afford but also the effort, hard work and years of dedication that have been spent in order that you might receive the great benefit of these teachings. A dana bowl for direct contributions to the teacher will be present at all talks and the dana contributed to that bowl goes directly to the teacher.

At these Teachings, there will be a second bowl out for you to support Crystal Staff’s aspiration to provide financial help with visiting teachers’ travel and accommodations. Your dana to the second bowl supports our Dharma community’s ability to bring Teachers to Ottawa.

Lama Mark Webber (Lama Yongdu Chokyi Gyaltsen) has been studying and teaching Buddha-Dharma for almost fifty years. For thirty years his main root teacher was the great Ven. Namgyal Rinpoche who taught all three cycles of the Buddha’s teachings, including Abhidhamma, Vipassana in the lineage of Mahāsi Sayādaw, generation and completion stage practices of the Tantrayana and Mahamudra/Dzogchen of many lineages, especially of the Karma Kagyu and Sakya. Under the guidance and request of the late Drikung Lho Ontul Rinpoche and transmissions from H.E. Lho Karma Ratna Rinpoche, Lama Webber has been teaching principally the richness of the Drikung Mahamudra, Drikung Yangzab and Orgyen Nuden Dorje Dzogchen traditions, transmissions of Shantideva’s Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, and pith texts of Padmasmabhava, Je Gampopa, Jamgön Ju Mipham and Patrul Rinpoche. He has a deep and long-term interest in the sciences and collaborates in marine biology research and the arts which he integrates with the teaching of Buddhism. Lama Webber is a founding board director of the national ecological research institute IMERSS (imerss.org). Lama Webber’s compassionate activities demonstrate a profound commitment to freeing beings from innumerable suffering states. His emphasis with practitioners and students is on uncovering pure Dharma to reveal its extraordinary benefits and share the great joy of its deep study, meditative practices and integration into all aspects of our lives.
