The Namgyal Yangzab Translation Project

The Namgyal Yangzab Buddhist Community of Canada (NYBCC) has been established by Lama Chokyi Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber) to support the teaching, study, practice, scholarships, translations and publications of the Namgyal & Drikung Yangzab (including Lho Orgyen Nuden Dorje) lineages. The Board of the NYBCC is pleased to announce that one of our major goals is the translation into English of transmissions, empowerments and sadhana texts that are essential for practitioners. For our early efforts in helping to establish the Drikung Dzogchen transmissions in Canada and the West, our community was recognized in 2017 with a certificate of appreciation by H.H. Chetsang Rinpoche and the Drikung International Council.

We have set a goal in 2023 to raise a minimum of $15,000 CND to support translators. This initial objective will enable the NYBCC to provide a base amount of $1,000 per month to maintain and sustain the work of at least one translator, working part-time. Currently, we are beginning to receive generous donations that will cover the first 3 to 4 months of translator services; having raised approximately $2,500 CND to our initial goal. It is our sincere hope to provide strong and sustainable support for translators since there continues to be a large volume of work that needs translation.

Work has already begun on the translation of 24 volumes, the entire collected works of Orgyen Lho Nuden Dorje, the great Drikung saint of the 19th-20th century. Lama Gyaltsen received as a gift these volumes from H.E. Lho Bongtrul Rinpoche while we were at Lho Lungkar Monastery in China in 2018. Doris Unterthurner, a student of Lama Gyaltsen, has begun the translation of the Table of Contents for the 24 volumes as well as continuing to translate empowerment texts for the Lama and edits of previous texts we all use. In addition, all this activity is vital support for H.E. Lho Karma Ratna Rinpoche to give teachings and transmissions to Western practitioners here in Canada and throughout the world.

How to make donations:

Donations of any amount are welcome and appreciated. Tithing (regular monthly donation) is an excellent option that will support the work of translators in a consistent and reliable way.
