Unfolding Oceans of Compassion Awareness: 22nd Annual Summer Retreat at Crystal Mountain

Crystal Mountain Society is very pleased to announce that for the 22nd year Lama Mark Webber will be teaching, leading meditation and guiding practitioners at the Crystal Mountain Summer Retreat.

Schedule and Topics:

Week 1: 

a) Introducing the foundations for  the awakening mind (Bodhicitta) supported by meditation 

b) Sensory In-touchment and Enlivening

  • Why Meditate? Four Noble Truths, Compassion and Emptiness: Study, Reflection and Meditation.
  • Meditation on transience and death
  • Progressively deepening awareness of our bodies is a vital part of liberation. Gradually bringing in-touchment and enlivening to our body experience is a major component of this summer’s retreat.
  • Many sessions of yoga, Feldenkrais and explorations by Lama Mark. (Led by Laurel Jacobson, Lama Mark and others)

Week 2: 

The meditation of Chenresig from the Drikung Dzogchen tradition. Outer, Inner and Secret practices of the Chenresig Sole Syllable as taught by Padmasambhava and revealed by Gyalwang Rinchen Phuntsog in the 16th century.

  • The empowerment of Chenresig. Date to be announced. 
  • Group and individual practice.
  • Integrating sound, speech, mantra and breath into all our practices (led by Michael Gohl).
  • Learning vajra recitation.
  • Many sessions of yoga, Feldenkrais and explorations by Lama Mark. (Led by Laurel Jacobson, Lama Mark and others)

Week 3: 

Continuation of Instructions, meditations and teachings of the Chenresig Sole Syllable practice & Mahamudra Instructions of Padmasambhava

  • The meditation of Chenresig continued with emphasis on inner yoga. Group and individual practice.
  • Mahamudra Instructions of Padmasambhava: Reading and teachings from an extraordinary texts on the ‘Great Seal’, by Padmasambhava. With commentary from Lho Trinle Namgyal’s and Tashi Namgyal’s texts on Mahamudra.
  • The meditation of Chenresig continued. Group and individual practice.
  • Continuing sessions each day of sound, yoga, Feldenkrais and explorations sensory awareness. (led by Laurel Jacobson and others)

Other Empowerments, transmissions and practices to be announced.

The retreat will end with an empowerment and community feast (Tsog).
