Saturday, June 8th: 10-12 noon and 3-5 pm

Phowa is the Buddhist practice for directing the transference of consciousness at the time of death. The practice can be for oneself or for another who is at the end stage of life. Lho Ontul Rinpoche will share this profound practice to help ourselves and others through the dying process. This is a rare transmission of Orgyen Nuden Dorje’s treasure called “The Ruby Garland, swift accomplishment of the Rainbow Body in One Week.” It is a completion stage practice of the highest mind yoga that will provide practice instruction including the signs and stages of dying, passage through the bardo and encountering our primordial wakefulness.

Sunday, June 9th: 10 – 12 noon and 3-5 pm

The empowerment of Longevity and Deathlessness is an essential meditation practice to extend and heal life energies. The meditation is integral to the phowa practice of The Ruby Garland. Instruction on the inner channel yoga practices reveal the inherent qualities one’s own true compassionate nature.

Teacher Biography

Ontul Rinpoche brings an accomplished yogin’s wealth of experience and knowledge to all that he teaches and does. Besides the riches of transmissions coming from the Drikung Kagyu and other schools, Rinpoche is the foremost teacher bringing to the West the entire Dzogchen cycle of the Profound Enlightened Intent of the Dharma, a treasure cycle (terma) revealed by Gyalwang Rinchen Phuntsog of the 16th century. In addition Ontul Rinpoche brings us the remarkable transmissions and vision of a great 19th century luminary, the yogin scholar and treasure revealer Lho Orgyen Nuden Dorje who was deeply connected to the Yangzab cycle. He founded Lho Lungkar monastery in Eastern Tibet, and it is here where Rinpoche grew up and is one of the main tulkus of this great place of practice and study.
