Bodhicitta is the awakened mind and the heart of the bodhisattva path. It is expressed through various teachings and described by different names, including MahamudraDzogchen, and Buddha Nature. It is the inseparable union of pristine awareness and limitless compassion. But what does this really mean, and how can we cultivate bodhicitta and meditate upon it to realize its profound benefits? What are the initial steps, and what do we need to cultivate in order to walk this path of freedom with clarity and confidence?

In this rich offering of teachings, Lama Gyaltsen (Lama Mark Webber), emphasizing the necessary preliminary steps, will transmit his outline of the entire Buddhist path of freedom, The Five Essential Realizations of Buddha Dharma. Alongside this, he will teach from a text by the great Dzogchen master Dza Patrul Rinpoche, Aspiration to Generate Bodhicitta, Utterly Pure and Supreme. At the request of participants, he will also give a reading transmission of The Preliminary Liberating Instructions of the Drikung Dzogchen lineage. In addition, Lama Gyaltsen will read and offer brief commentary on his recently written text, How Fortunate It Is to Meet the Dharma.

The session on Bowen Island will conclude with an empowerment of White Tara, the embodiment of complete awakening.
